CURRENT PROJECTS
THE
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC PROJECT
Our current partner includes the Mariposa Foundation in the Dominican Republic. Since 2016, we work closely with the organization to pursue research studies and needs assessment to support their community building and needs. YSSID students have focused on issues relating to gender and sports recruitment, environmental sustainability issues, renewable energy sources, as well as women vocational training needs of the community.

THE
PLAYA DEL CARMEN
PROJECT
In the Playa del Carmen region, we work with local business owners to continue to asses various challenges in the community relating to tourism business and sustainability issues. Some of the issues include labor relations and conflict, environmental sustainability policies, and many more. We also work with the Fundación Contando con un Amigo, a school for informal settlement communities in the Playa del Carmen area.
PREVIOUS PROJECTS
THE
HAITI PROJECT
In the previous years, we had the honor of working with outstanding non-profit organizations based in Haiti. The field research component of the program was run in partners with both public and private schools, hospitals, and orphanages to organize project that are geared towards students’ topic of interest. Our previous partners include the HEART School and the CEI project run by Cornell University. Students also have the opportunity to complete service work in schools, local hospitals, and orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
